Dr. Johnston practiced traditional Western medicine as a family practice physician, pediatrician, medical director of nursing homes and weight loss clinics, for two decades. Treating symptoms. Treating disease reactively--instead of pro-actively. But when his parents' and grandparents' diseases began their insidious manifestations, and thanks in part due to a mistrust that government-endorsed healthcare created with their COVID fiasco, Dr. Johnston began to rethink healthcare. His mission now is to offer high-level health coaching that helps people proactively manage risk and take ownership of their health.

THE FAILURE OF MODERN MEDICINE

 

Most of modern medicine is reactive, not proactive. Doctors are trained to manage disease after it appears, often with layers of medications, while under-emphasizing prevention, lifestyle, and non-pharmaceutical options. Many physicians are hesitant to address suboptimal hormones, excess body fat, or pre-disease states aggressively. Non-FDA-approved or natural remedies are often ignored. And when medications are prescribed, side effects are frequently managed with more medications—not with foundational changes.

 

There is a massive gap between what’s possible with nutrition, movement, supplements, sleep, stress management, and targeted strategies—and what patients are typically offered in a 10–15 minute office visit.

 

My work now is to help bridge that gap through education and motivational coaching.

 

There are mountains of evidence that severe health risks are associated with have poor muscle/fat body ration, and being overweight, at having an unhealthy diet full of trans fats, and metabolically active pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides. Doctors do not even consider the benefits of intelligently prescribed supplements to mitigate disease and symptoms. It's too difficult for government agencies to control, and for insurance and pharmaceutical companies to monetize, so medical schools do not educate med students on it. So many problems are safely treatable without prescribed medications! There is so much that can be done to fix our health and psychiatric problems, beyond the limited scope of contemporary Western medicine.

Doctors, statistically, are more overweight than the population at large, and thus not surprisingly, do a very poor job at managing obesity. Drugs, pushed through pharmaceutical profiteers, dominate the medical landscape, when diet, activity, and supplements could do all of the heavy lifting under the expertise of a knowledgable guide. ​​
